The 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition

This is the hub for my Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904 World’s Fair) research, which was my Senior Seminar project. This work proved that the United States Government utilized the U.S. Government Building and its War and Navy Department’s exhibits as a showcase of American superiority and power. Furthermore, visitor account proved that many received this message with open arms, strengthening fond American sentiment regarding the military. This research contextualizes American society during the turn-of-the-century Progressive Era.
